EIBOS Filament Dryer Series X Tetras Review: The Best Multi-Spool Dryer for Bambu Lab?

EIBOS Filament Dryer Series X Tetras Review: The Best Multi-Spool Dryer for Bambu Lab? Upgrades

If you’re serious about print quality, you already know that moisture is the enemy. Wet filament causes stringing, popping, poor layer adhesion, and surface defects that no amount of slicer tuning can fix. The EIBOS Filament Dryer Series X: Tetras is designed to solve this problem at scale - especially if you’re running a Bambu Lab printer with the AMS.

After running it alongside a Bambu Lab X1C with AMS, here’s what we think.

What Is the EIBOS Tetras?

The Tetras is a 4-chamber filament dryer that mounts directly onto or works alongside the Bambu Lab AMS system. Each chamber has its own:

  • Independent heater and fan - dry 4 different filaments at 4 different temperatures simultaneously
  • Temperature sensor and humidity sensor - per-chamber monitoring
  • Temperature range: 20-65°C (68-149°F) - covers everything from PLA to Nylon
  • Timer: 30 minutes to 24 hours (or unlimited continuous drying)

This isn’t a cheap food dehydrator with a spool holder bolted on. It’s purpose-built for 3D printing.

Setup and First Impressions

Setup is straightforward. The Tetras sits on top of or beside your AMS and feeds filament directly into it. Each chamber opens independently, so you can swap one spool without disturbing the others.

Build quality is solid - the housing feels durable, the seals are tight, and the UI is intuitive. You set each chamber’s target temperature and timer independently. That’s a big deal because PLA, PETG, TPU, and Nylon all have different optimal drying temps:

FilamentRecommended Dry TempDry Time
PLA45-50°C4-6 hours
PETG55-65°C4-6 hours
TPU50-55°C6-8 hours
Nylon60-65°C8-12 hours
ABS55-65°C4-6 hours

With the Tetras, you can dry all four at their correct temperatures at the same time. No compromises.

Performance: Does It Actually Dry Filament?

Yes, and noticeably. We tested with PETG that had been sitting open for 2 weeks (you could hear it popping during extrusion). After 4 hours in the Tetras at 60°C:

  • Popping/crackling: Gone completely
  • Stringing: Reduced by ~80%
  • Surface quality: Noticeably smoother
  • Layer adhesion: Improved

The active fan circulation makes a real difference compared to passive dryers. Instead of just heating the air and hoping, the Tetras actively pulls moisture out of each chamber.

Why It’s Perfect for Bambu Lab AMS Users

If you’re running a Bambu Lab X1C or P1S with the AMS, you’re already managing 4 spools. The Tetras was clearly designed with this workflow in mind:

  • 4 chambers = 4 AMS slots - dry your entire AMS loadout at once
  • Feed-through design - filament goes from dryer straight into AMS without exposure to ambient air
  • Independent control - running PLA in slot 1, PETG in slot 2, supports in slot 3? Each gets the right temperature

This is the kind of seamless integration that justifies the price. You’re not fighting your equipment - everything works together.

The Tetras costs more, no question. But if you’re running an AMS with multiple filament types, the per-chamber temperature control alone makes it worth it. You’ll stop making compromises on drying temperature.

Who Should Buy This?

Buy the Tetras if:

  • You run a Bambu Lab printer with AMS
  • You print with multiple filament types regularly
  • You live in a humid climate
  • You’re tired of single-spool dryers being a bottleneck
  • Print quality matters to you (functional prints, visual models, etc.)

Skip it if:

  • You only print PLA occasionally
  • You only use 1-2 spools at a time
  • Budget is tight - a single-spool dryer works fine for basic needs

Tips for Getting the Most Out of It

  1. Pre-dry new filament - Even factory-sealed spools can have moisture. Run them for 2-4 hours before first use.
  2. Use continuous mode for long prints - If your print will run 12+ hours, set the dryer to unlimited and let it run the entire time.
  3. Store filament properly between prints - The dryer removes moisture, but it’ll come back if you leave spools exposed. Use vacuum bags or airtight containers for storage.
  4. Match temps to filament - Don’t just blast everything at max. PLA at 65°C can deform on the spool. Follow the recommended temps.

Pair It With Great Filament

A dryer is only as good as the filament you feed it. Here are our go-to picks:

  • SUNLU PLA 2.0 - Stronger than regular PLA, great dimensional accuracy. Our daily driver for PLA prints.
  • Polymaker PolyLite PETG - Excellent PETG that responds particularly well to drying. Noticeable quality improvement when properly dried.

The Verdict

The EIBOS Filament Dryer Series X: Tetras is the best multi-spool filament dryer we’ve used. The 4 independent chambers with per-spool temperature control make it a perfect companion for the Bambu Lab AMS ecosystem. It’s not cheap, but if you’re running a multi-material setup and care about print quality, it pays for itself in reduced failed prints and better results.

Rating: 9/10 - Only ding is the price, but you get what you pay for.
